Bhaktapur Town and Temples
The old city of Bhaktapur, just 15 kms from Kathmandu, with its pagoda roofs and blend of wood, mud-brick and copper was a beautiful place to spend a couple of days and nights. Exploring its three main squares, sitting people-watching, seeing photo opportunities at every turn and feeling very welcomed by the residents here who just carry on their lives despite the influx of day tourists from Kathmandu. To walk around the old city at 5.30am and have the place to yourself and the locals setting up their market stalls and doing their morning puja at the many shrines was really special.
